The Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Scheme supports States in counter-LWE operations by reimbursing recurring expenditure on security operations and training, transportation and logistics, community policing, assistance to Special Police Officers and Village Defence Committees, ex-gratia assistance and compensation, rehabilitation of surrendered cadres, and publicity and awareness activities. Since 2014-15, ₹3,828.01 crore has been released to States under the scheme.
